I’m much happier with tutorial #3, having taken some time to tidy my desk and prepare my environment well in advance of the recording. I tried consciously to keep the same distance from the mic with each take and I think, in the most part, I succeded. I also managed to cut down some of the mouse crashing noises that plagued tutorial #2.
